Ketubbah (Illuminated Jewish Marriage Contracts)
The commissioning and illumination of Jewish marriage contracts has a long and rich history. While he was a rabbinical student at The Jewish Theological Seminary, Matt had the privilege of studying the history of illuminated ketubbot with Shalom Sabar of Hebrew University. It was both his mentor David Moss (who is singlehandedly responsible for reviving the art of ketubbah illumination in the twentieth century) and the remarkable ketubbah collection of Beatrice and Richard Levy z”l of Boca Raton, FL that inspired Matt to embrace this very special art. Matt is available for original, handmade, calligraphed and paper-cut ketubbah commissions as well as ordering more modest, limited edition ketubbot. Enjoy the portfolio of images available on the site. For more information about the ketubbot seen on this site or for details about commissioning your own ketubbah, please contact Matt directly.
