Plate 22. Every Breath of Life

The illumination is divided into six colorful bands bordered by the words, “the breath of every life” and “will bless Your name.” Each band depicts the abundant natural world, while the limited human features appear in bold Hebrew letters: pinu, our mouths, sail on an aqua sea; l’shoneinu, our tongues, play amongst the waves; eineinu, our eyes, bask in the light of the sun and the moon; yadeinu, our hands, reach to the wings of soaring eagles; and ragleinu, our legs, play with graceful gazelles prancing in the fields.
