The design reflects the original version of “The Four Questions.” A lamb gazes at the center since this animal reflects the Biblical observance of Pesah. The statement regarding the Paschal Lamb is inscribed in the background. Each column is devoted to one of “The Four Questions” of today, moving from, “On all other nights” at the top of the page to “On this night” at the bottom. The fourth panel juxtaposes sitting upright to reclining, a symbol of freedom. Shackles transform into crowns. We are all aristocracy this evening, reclining like royalty and learning Torah. True aristocracy in Judaism is not the human ruler but the divine word.
